One week to go...

This semester has been absolutely CRAZY. I have one more day of formal classes and then 3 finals!! This is my last semester at San Jose State and then I am off to real life, which with the economy being the way that it is, is not going to be a piece of cake. I have a world of opportunities ahead of me...with the combination of my PR degree, interest in Anthropology and love for fashion, it will be interesting to see how my life unfolds. I am looking to take a break from all the non-stop madness that has engulfed me this semester and am striving to move ahead and look forward. Everyone keeps asking what my plans are after graduation and after so long it becomes nauseating to think that I don't have any. I have several goals that I want to reach and in order to obtain these goals I am going to have to work hard. I keep reminding myself to keep calm, relax when I can and eventually everything happens for a reason. In the end, I am proud of my accomplishments and hope that the real life will bring me as much as college did and more. The thing to remember is that everybody makes mistakes and it's the ones that overcome those mistakes that learn in life. I need to focus on not taking things too personally in my friendships and relationships with people. Work on remaining positive and keep the things that I love close to my heart.

Mid Semester Thoughts....

Wow! Today was October 22nd and I once clocked the temperature at 87 degrees outside! 87 degrees! That's crazy. If my memory is right, shouldn't this be about the time that we bust out the Uggs and invest in a new coat? What's with the summeresk warm breeze? I feel like I am in Las Vegas on spring break!

I don't know about you but I am a Norcal girl and like the changing of the seasons. Fall is usually my favorite time of year for dress, I'm all about the flip flop/scarf combo but seriously it is flat out too hot for scarves!

The bright side of this last bit of extra sun means that those of us who will dawn booty shorts and bra tops for Halloween don't have to worry about getting goosebumps...

Recessionista v. Fashionista

Feeling more like a recessionista these days rather than a fashionista? Yeah, you're not alone. I feel the pain along with the rest of our country. It seems that everything everywhere has gotten more expensive, right down to my Gillete razor blades that took a gigantic $3.00 increase! But with the high demands of gas and food prices, how is one supposed to still stay up to date with the latest fashions without plumeting into debt????
Ok San Jose! Here are some great places to find inexpensive duds to rock out in any day of the week!

This is a great bag coming into the fall season, a stable brown bag is a great investment and with it only costing $50 it is not an investment that will NOT empty your bank account. Find this bag at Urban Outfiitters, location in Santana Row.

These boots were made for SAVINGS! Wear these boots inside or outside of the pant. The two buttons on the side add extra detail and for only $20.00! Find these at Crossraods, the buy-shop-sell store with a location right here in San Jose. What's great about Crossroads is you can sell your fashions for trade in value for new to you, but previously worn fashions or receive cash back!

*One last money-saver tip

Bet you can't guess where this is from...

That's right! TARGET...I bought this boyfriend sweater from target for $10.00 I couldn't believe it...I previously saw the same sweater at Nordstrom for $40.00+. Target has some great finds and when their items go on sale...it keeps your bank account lookong even greater! Several Target locations within San Jose.

Anyone watch the VMA's

I don't know about you, but I have not watched the VMA's for probably 5 years now. At home on Sunday night I was bored and browsing through TV, catching up on my latest guilty pleasures when I caught the tail end of, The Hills special premiere debuting before the VMA's.
Having rumored that Britney Spears was making a come back appearance (due to the failure of her not so ready performance last year) I was curious as to what all the hype was about. I kept it on MTV and was impressed with the buzz surrounding the VMA's.
Britney's comeback opening act was not at all what I was expecting but she did look FAB! I'm glad to see her doing well again after the unfortunate 2-year meltdown she briefly endured.
Having not been a loyal VMA's fan for a few years now, watching it really amazed me! T-Pain rolling in on an elephant was just the beginning....how about that Tokio Hotel German group, cutting edge! Katy Perry strutting around in complete vintage...her own I might add, was very refreshing.
Overall, there was a lot to see at the VMA's. Since I am all about style and keeping updated with all the trends on this page...I have included a link to the right on all VMA fashions, Love it or Hate it? Check it out to see all celebrity styles...

Responsibilities and opportunities as a blogger

Blogging is a way to express your opinions, attitudes and interests, basically yourself. As a blogger the responsibility falls to you to make sure what you post, most importantly, is accurate. Legitimacy is key. Blogging is a great way for others to learn something about you. Blogging false information or blogging information that is not pertinent, sends the message to readers that the blog is not taken seriously. Consequently who will want to read your blog?

Another important aspect to readers is visual appeal. Borwsing amongst millions of blogs can be tedious. One of the most valuable goals of my blog is to attract readers visually with color, images and "catch phrases". Graphic innovation and a unique sense of page layout is what I hope to communicate through my blog to attract viewers/readers. I want my page to be user-friendly and interactive...using reader polls, comment boxes and graphs will be a goal of mine to intrigue views to continue visiting my blog.

Because I can be a little corky and take risks, I do not attend all viewers to completely understand my blog or sometimes the message. I want to bring an edgy feel to my blog, using alternative modes of communication and new phrases/words. My page is a focus on fashion: vintage, trends and how fashion can be interpreted as art. Everyone has a fashion sense through self-expression of clothes, this page will enable visitors to get in touch with their personal fashion and other trends seen on people throughout teh Bay Area and larger California areas.
